frozen green onion
Shandong China
20251026
Frozen green onion is a garnish ingredient, and garnishes are judged on appearance first. The scallion has to arrive as clean, evenly cut rings with the green and white proportions your specification calls for — not as a bag of pale stems with the green ends lost somewhere in the line.
The second thing buyers check is behaviour in the pan and on the plate: a green onion that turns limp and olive-coloured thirty seconds after hitting heat has been poorly blanched or badly frozen, and no kitchen can fix that afterwards.
Scallions are washed, trimmed, sliced to the agreed size and individually quick frozen. Standard cuts are 3–5 mm and 5–8 mm rings; other lengths are produced to order. Green-to-white ratio follows your instruction, because a caterer plating garnish and a manufacturer running a soup line want different proportions from the same raw material.
Free-flow is part of the specification. Frozen green onion that clumps forces the kitchen to thaw a whole pack to use a handful, and repeated thaw-refreeze cycles destroy the texture long before the product is finished.
Foodservice and catering — plating garnish and soup finishes without daily prep.
Ready meals and soups — cut rings that distribute evenly and hold colour.
Retail private label — small retail packs under your brand.
Distributors — a stable cut and ratio specification that can be re-sold without complaint.
Green onion is usually ordered alongside other frozen aromatics and vegetables. Our frozen mixed vegetables, IQF green beans and diced cauliflower share the same freezing and export schedule, so multi-item orders travel on one loading plan and one document set.
Standard export packing is 10 kg cartons, with 1 kg and 500 g retail bags available for private label. Cartons are lined with food-grade PE to limit freezer burn during long ocean transit, and every outer case carries the lot number and production date for traceability. Palletised loading and mixed-carton programmes are quoted with the order.
The minimum order is 1 metric ton per cut specification. Container loading is confirmed against the chosen packing format at order stage; green onion is light for its volume, so retail packs fill a container well before they reach the weight limit.
We pack under your brand: printed cartons, retail bag design, barcode and lot coding for traceability, and mixed-item outer cases for distributors carrying a range. Artwork is proofed and approved before the first production run and kept on file so repeat orders match without re-checking.
Samples are supplied before a bulk commitment — tell us the cut size, the green-to-white ratio and the tests your lab will run. Each shipment carries commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate, plus food-safety documentation for the schemes our plants are audited to: ISO, BRC, HACCP, KOSHER, HALAL, NOP, EOS and AIB.
Washing, slicing, freezing and cold storage take place at our facility in Ju County, Rizhao, Shandong, with blast freezing before dispatch. Raw material comes from our own farmland and contracted growers in the same agricultural belt, so the harvest window is planned rather than bought at the last minute. Normal lead time is within three weeks of a signed contract, with a seven-day option when a supply window closes unexpectedly.
