frozen diced onion
Shandong
20251126
Frozen diced red onion at 5 mm is a labour-saving ingredient with a colour job to do. The dice has to hold its shape through cooking, and the purple-red colour has to survive freezing and reheating — a red onion that bleeds into grey during processing is worse than no red onion at all.
The 5 mm cut is the size most kitchens settle on: small enough to disappear into a sauce and blend into a mix, large enough to read as onion on a pizza or in a salad. It is also the cut that punishes a bad supplier most, because at that size any piece of skin, root or bruised tissue shows up immediately.
Red onions are peeled, washed, diced to 5 mm, blanched where the end use requires it, and individually quick frozen so the dice stay separate in the bag rather than freezing into a block. Free-flow matters: a block means the kitchen has to thaw the whole pack to use part of it.
Grading is on the things that show after defrosting — even colour across the dice, clean cut faces, no skin or root inclusions, no clumping, and a texture that still reads as onion rather than paste. Because red onion is bought largely for appearance, colour consistency between lots is checked, not assumed.
Foodservice and central kitchens — pizza, salad, salsa and garnish work without prep labour.
Ready meals and sauces — 5 mm dice that disperses evenly and holds shape.
Retail private label — your pack size and artwork for frozen vegetable ranges.
Distributors — a repeatable cut and colour specification that can be re-sold under your own label.
Red onion dice is normally part of a broader frozen vegetable programme. Our frozen mixed vegetables, frozen green onion and diced cauliflower run on the same freezing and export schedule, so a multi-item order shares one loading plan and one document set.
Standard export packing is 10 kg cartons, with 1 kg and 2.5 kg retail bags available for private label. Palletised loading and mixed-carton programmes are quoted with the order.
The minimum order is 1 metric ton per cut size, which lets a buyer run a full check on colour and texture before committing to a container. Container loading is confirmed against the packing format at order stage, since retail bags cube out differently from 10 kg cartons.
We pack under your brand: printed cartons, retail bag design, barcode and lot coding for traceability, and mixed-item outer cases for distributors carrying a range. Artwork is proofed and approved before the first production run and kept on file so repeat orders match.
Samples are supplied before a bulk commitment — tell us the cut size and the tests your lab will run. Each shipment carries commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate, plus food-safety documentation for the schemes our plants are audited to: ISO, BRC, HACCP, KOSHER, HALAL, NOP, EOS and AIB. Where your market requires a named certificate for clearance, state it at quotation stage so it is written into the order.
Peeling, dicing, freezing and cold storage are carried out at our facility in Ju County, Rizhao, Shandong, with blast freezing before dispatch and no break in the chain between preparation and container. Red onion is bought on quality rather than price per kilo, so the raw material is selected for firmness and colour before it reaches the line. Normal lead time is within three weeks of a signed contract, with a seven-day option for urgent windows.
